Footskating is one of the few sports that uses both the feet and the mind and the soul at the same time. It has been likened to the birth of surfboarding, although you cannot footskate on water, it doesn't work for very long, because you sink.
Footskating was originally developed by people who couldn't afford skateboards, and then also taken up by people who left their skateboards at home, but had already been dropped at the skatepark.
Shaolin monks who took a vow of silence would often communicate with one another through a crude early form of footskating - this was later developed into Kung Fu.

In the film Footskating 101, the filmmakers originally wanted Tony Hawk to play the inventor of skateboarding, but then decided that he was too young for the role, and anyway, they'd lost Tony Hawks phone number. So the role went to Barker from Isidingo.

Just because you don't have to pay for expensive equipment, you should always be safe and warm up, otherwise you could end up paying with your health. And that's a higher cost than expensive equipment.
